Direct Primary Care is a membership-based approach to primary care that puts the relationship between you and your physician first. Instead of billing insurance for routine primary care, members pay a simple membership fee for enhanced access to their physician, longer appointments, and comprehensive, personalized primary care.

At Dr. Mag DPC, the goal is simple: more time with your doctor, easier access to care, and a physician who truly knows you and your health.

Your membership is designed to cover your ongoing primary care with Dr. Mag, including preventive and wellness visits, management of chronic medical conditions, acute and sick visits, medication management, longer appointments, virtual visits when appropriate, and coordination of care with specialists.

Members also have direct communication with Dr. Mag and access to preferred cash pricing for many laboratory and imaging services.

Yes. Your membership includes unlimited visits with Dr. Mag as medically appropriate, without a separate office-visit fee each time.

The idea is that you shouldn’t have to decide whether a health concern is “worth another copay.” If something is bothering you, we want you to feel comfortable reaching out.

Yes. Direct physician access is one of the central benefits of Dr. Mag DPC.

Members will have a secure way to communicate directly with Dr. Mag for medical questions, follow-up, medication concerns, and other appropriate healthcare needs.

Televisits are also available when medically appropriate, allowing many concerns to be addressed without requiring a trip to the office.

Yes. One of the advantages of maintaining a much smaller patient panel is improved appointment availability.

Same-day or next-day appointments will be offered whenever possible based on clinical need and availability.

Appointments are intentionally longer and less rushed than a typical primary-care visit.

The goal is to have enough time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, review your health comprehensively, and develop a thoughtful plan together.

Dr. Mag DPC is being designed around a simple and transparent monthly membership fee of $150, with no chance for surprise office-visit charges or copays for the primary-care services included in your membership.

No. Direct Primary Care is not health insurance.

Your membership covers the primary-care services included in your membership agreement, but it does not replace insurance for expenses such as hospitalization, emergency care, surgery, specialist care, or other services outside the practice.

Yes. We strongly recommend maintaining health insurance for care outside Dr. Mag DPC, particularly for emergencies, hospitalization, surgery, specialist care, expensive medications, and other major medical expenses.

Think of your DPC membership as taking care of your everyday and ongoing primary-care needs, while insurance remains important protection for larger and unexpected medical expenses.

Health insurance and primary care serve different purposes.

Even patients with excellent insurance may experience short appointments, long waits to see their physician, difficulty communicating directly with their doctor, and fragmented care.

Dr. Mag DPC is designed to offer something different: time, access, continuity, convenience, and a genuine ongoing relationship with your physician.

No. Dr. Mag DPC is a direct-pay primary-care practice. We do not bill your health insurance for the primary-care services included in your membership.

Your relationship is directly with the practice rather than being driven by insurance reimbursement. You can still use your health insurance for services outside the practice when appropriate.

Yes, you may cancel your membership anytime via the online portal. Upon cancellation, your monthly membership will remain valid for the current month and you will no longer be charged ongoing. Refunds are not possible for current months already paid. For annual memberships, refunds will be prorated for unused months. 

Dr. Mag DPC will help coordinate necessary laboratory and imaging studies.

Members may have access to discounted cash pricing for certain services. In other situations, it may make more sense to use your health insurance. Whenever possible, we will help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision before testing.

Dr. Mag will help determine when specialist care is appropriate and coordinate your care.

Rather than simply sending a referral, the goal is to remain involved, review specialist recommendations and results when available, and help you understand how that care fits into your overall health plan.

 Hospital care itself is not included in the DPC membership, but your relationship with Dr. Mag doesn’t end when you enter the hospital.

When appropriate and when medical records are available, Dr. Mag can review relevant hospital information and help maintain continuity with your hospital care team. 

After discharge, Dr. Mag can help coordinate your transition back to outpatient care, review medication changes and follow-up needs, and arrange appropriate follow-up care.

House calls may also be available in select circumstances when medically appropriate.

Dr. Mag DPC does not replace emergency medical services.

For a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go directly to the nearest emergency room. Direct access to Dr. Mag is intended for primary-care needs and should never delay emergency treatment.

Yes. Many medical concerns and follow-up visits can be handled virtually when clinically appropriate.

Televisits provide members with another convenient way to receive care from Dr. Mag without automatically needing to come into the office. They are included with your membership and are also unlimited. 

Beginning in 2026, federal law allows HSA funds to be used tax-free for eligible Direct Primary Care membership fees.

Specific HSA eligibility requirements and limits may apply depending on your DPC arrangement and individual circumstances, so members should consult their HSA administrator or tax advisor when appropriate.

Both models emphasize greater access and more personalized care, but they are not necessarily the same.

Traditional concierge practices may charge a membership fee while continuing to bill insurance for office visits and other medical services.

Dr. Mag DPC is built around the Direct Primary Care model—a straightforward membership relationship covering defined primary-care services without billing insurance for those included services. 

Yes. Prospective members will have an opportunity to learn more about the practice and determine whether Dr. Mag DPC is the right fit for them before enrolling.

Details about introductory conversations and meet-and-greet opportunities will be available closer to our opening as enrollment approaches.

Yes. Membership will intentionally be limited.

Traditional primary-care physicians typically care for very large patient panels, in the thousands. Dr. Mag DPC will maintain a much smaller membership so that Dr. Mag can provide longer appointments, better availability, direct communication, and more personalized care.

Once the practice reaches its membership capacity, new prospective patients may be placed on a waiting list.

Dr. Mag DPC is designed for adults who value a close relationship with their physician, convenient access to care, preventive medicine, thoughtful management of chronic conditions, and anyone wishing to have enough time to actually discuss their health in detail. 

It’s for people who want their primary-care physician to know them—not simply treat a problem when something goes wrong.

Joining will be simple.

Prospective members will be able to submit an enrollment request or schedule an introductory conversation with Dr. Mag once our opening is closer. (TBD, targeting December 2026)
